About Us

Downtown Decorations was established by Ted Peterson as a small holiday décor business run out of his home basement. His son Garrett Peterson joined the business in 2003, and we quickly outgrew our humble headquarters as we moved from strictly small-town, municipality work to large development and downtown projects. After years of steady growth, Downtown Decorations is now a premier provider of decor services with a portfolio spanning projects of all sizes around the globe. We continue, however, to retain the values of a family business that pours the same level of energy and passion into each project that we did on day one – we just do it out of a slightly larger, aboveground office.

While we like to think that our work speaks for itself, the way we do business and how we interact with our customers and partners are also integral to who we are as a company. These ideas are captured in our core values, which are not simply words on a website, but principles we live by each day. At Downtown Decorations, we are honest and open, passionate and enthusiastic. We are a one-stop shop for all things commercial decorations and want to provide our clients with the full “5-star hotel, hang out in the spa and get room service” kind of experience.

Ted Peterson prides himself on hard work. For 20 years, he served as an executive at ConAgra Brands. Boasting tremendous expertise in the development of sales strategies he struck out on his own. Ted continues to propel Downtown Decorations forward as an international business known for its high quality and unmatched creativity. In his downtime, he loves to relax at his camp in the Adirondacks and is relieved they finally got high-speed internet up there. 

Garrett Peterson

Vice President

Garrett has been in the Holiday décor business for over 16 years. Starting with a background in installation and fabrication, Garrett grew into a role managing Downtown Decorations’ custom décor projects. He is also the world’s leading expert on Giant Artificial Commercial Christmas Trees. Maybe don’t fact check that but anyone who’s been cornered at a party by him can attest they’ve never met anyone who knows more about Christmas trees than Garrett.

Jimmy Alexander

Texas Sales

Jimmy Alexander’s road to DDI is an untraditional one beginning as a longtime customer working with Ted. A 20-year veteran of the National Guard, Jimmy says his favorite part of the job is the Hometown Heroes program, which uses banners to honor veterans throughout town centers. He is a father of two and grandfather of five all of which live nearby in Fredericksburg, Texas where Jimmy served as the Parks and Recreation Director for 28 years.
