Press Release | Syracuse, NY | November 30, 2021
Ted Peterson, Founder & President of Downtown Decorations (DDI) was recently profiled by his hometown newspaper, the Syracuse Post Standard.
The article profiles Ted’s experience building DDI, from a basement office in his house to the leading provider of exterior decor to cities and shopping malls nationwide.
“So I started it out of my basement in Manlius [a suburb of Syracuse]. It was just myself at that point. I started knocking on doors and it grew and it grew. Among the things I learned from my [previous] corporate life is extreme loyalty to your customer and creating great relationships”
Combining leadership lessons learned from his working class upbringing to positions with well known national companies such as ConAgra Foods & the Dial Corporation, Ted built DDI on a foundation of providing great customer service. This has translated into his company being trusted to build decor programs for some of the most marquis locations in the country.
“[Clients such as] Georgetown [DC], Augusta [GA], and Atlanta incorporated different looks, not only for themselves, but for private businesses as well. Some cities have a bigger vision of not just saying this what we want now. Rather, they say: How do we want it to grow?
“Downtown Atlanta started with one of the Masson pieces. Then, they expanded around Atlanta. This year, they’ve taken it to the next step and tied in the Atlanta Botanical garden. [These signature pieces] build excitement… for a city or downtown.”
